Nobody quite knows how Anthony Weiner came up with “Carlos Danger” for his nom de cybersexe, and Weiner, desperate to put last week’s scandal behind him, is reluctant to discuss the issue.
“It was a joke in my personal life between me and one person,” Weiner said on Univision this morning when asked to explain why he selected a Hispanic name for his Internet sex chats. Eric Salgado, a long-shot candidate for mayor, has demanded that Weiner apologize for the pseudonym, which was “very insulting to the Spanish community.”
“I’m not going to comment on anything about the information that person has chosen to release,” Weiner continued. “They can do whatever they want, try to harm me in any way that they want. I’m moving forward.” He then ran out the clock on the interview with a speech about fighting for New Yorkers.
