Syrian President Bashar al-Assad hasn’t talked with the American people in a few days, but he revealed in an interview with Venezuela’s state-run Telesur network on Wednesday that his government has confessions from rebels that they brought chemical weapons into the country. He reports Syrian forces also found some of the rebels’ labs, instruments, and chemical weapons stockpiles. Assad didn’t share his proof during the interview, but says “we provided the evidence to the Russian government.” The U.N. weapons inspectors who just returned to Damascus can probably go home now.
