Christie Will Remain Anti-Gay Marriage, Even If His Child Comes Out

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie outlines plans for a special election to be held to fill the vacant U.S. Senate seat of Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ), who died yesterday, on June 4, 2013 at the Statehouse in Trenton, New Jersey. Christie did not disclose who would fill the vacant seat until the election scheduled for October 16, 2013.

One of the weirdest aspects of being a politician’s child has to be having your parents publicly discuss how they’d react to various disclosures about your sexual activity. In his final debate with Barbara Buono, whose daughter is openly gay, Chris Christie was asked how he’d react if one of his four children came out as homosexual. “I’d grab them and hug them and tell them I love them,” he said, adding that he’d say, “Dad believes marriage is between one man and one woman. My children understand there will be differences of opinion in my house.” We’re not sure if that’s more or less awkward than John Catsimatidis asking his son racially charged questions after his theoretical stop-and-frisk.
