The man who jumped into the tiger den at the Bronx Zoo last year (because, he said, he wanted to “be at one with the tiger”) pleaded guilty to trespassing on Tuesday in an agreement under which he’ll avoid jail time or a fine but be required to complete a year of mental health treatment. If he does that, the charge will be dismissed and it will be like this whole thing never happened. Except for the fact that a tiger mauled him and broke his shoulder, rib, ankle, and pelvis, and collapsed his lung.*
*Reports at the time said the tiger had eaten his foot, but that turned out to be untrue.
