The attack last year on Afghanistan’s Camp Bastion, where two Marines died, a dozen aircraft were damaged or destroyed, and Prince Harry was apparently targeted, has now cost two Marine generals their careers. The Marines asked Maj. Gen. Charles M. Gurganus and Maj. Gen. Gregg A. Sturdevant, who were deemed responsible for the base’s security, to retire. It’s a move tantamount to firing, for failing to “take adequate force protection measures” and not exercising the “level of judgment expected of general officers.” Who knows where they’ll fire their retirement papers, though.
