John R. Gambling, the WOR host known for his lively Friday chats with the mayor, is retiring at the end of 2013 after “27 glorious years,” he announced this morning. A third-generation radio personality, Gambling said, “It will be the first time in 88 years that there will not be a Gambling on New York radio,” but added that he’s “absolutely ecstatic about the idea of spending the winter in Florida,” where Bloomberg, of course, has a home. Golf buddies it is.
