Seven score and ten years ago today, Abraham Lincoln made the world’s first and only use of “scores” to describe a length of time when he delivered the Gettysburg Address. The brief November 19, 1863, speech, which commemorated the pivotal Battle of Gettysburg four months earlier, is known as one of the great orations in American history.
