Reasoning that not allowing gay people to marry violated the state’s Equal Protection clause and that there was, you know, literally no valid reason to do that aside from “ew, gays,” the New Mexico Supreme Court ruled today that the state must allow same-sex marriages. New Mexico becomes the sixteenth state (in addition to D.C.) to legalize gay marriage. And to give you an idea of the pace this is happening: More states (ten) legalized gay marriage in just the past fourteen months than in all the months prior.
