Chris Christie was so hurt by former deputy chief of staff Bridget Anne Kelly’s alleged betrayal that he couldn’t bring himself to ask for an explanation before firing her, but in case any of her former colleagues are curious, she’s not doing great. The New York Times reports that with reporters staking out her home, the mother of four has gone into hiding. Friends say that despite her “Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee” e-mail, she’s not a ruthless political operative or even a rule-breaker. She’s said to be very upset about how her actions have hurt her former boss, though he publicly branded her a liar. “Her unrequited loyalty is not wavering,” says a friend. Since she’s certain to be subpoenaed in various investigations, that may prove helpful for the governor.
