The problems with Dennis Rodman’s latest North Korea trip extend well beyond the personal. The Daily Beast reports that the former NBA star is now under investigation for breaking sanctions against the regime of Kim Jong-un when he brought the leader more than $10,000 worth of birthday gifts, which “allegedly included hundreds of dollars’ worth of Irish Jameson whiskey, European crystal, an Italian suit, a fur coat, and an English Mulberry handbag for Kim’s wife, Ri Sol-ju.” Those sure do sound like luxury goods, which U.S. and U.N. sanctions prohibit.
