South Carolina State Just the Latest School Shooting

BELTSVILLE, MD - JUNE 18: Bullets and various gun parts sit on display at a demonstration about recovering DNA evidence from items that a suspect has simply touched, during a media day at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms National Laboratory Center on June 18, 2013 in Beltsville, Maryland. The laboratory celebrated its 10-year anniversary with an open house for media and bureau interns to highlight the types of studies that ATF investigators from across the country perform at the center. Yesterday, Think Progress noted that in the first fourteen school days of 2014, there have been at least seven school shootings in the United States. That number is already out of date: One student was shot and killed this afternoon on the campus of South Carolina State University; no one has been apprehended yet. Earlier this week, a 21-year-old senior was killed by a gunman at Purdue University, and so on, and so on.
