The legality of Barry Diller’s streaming-TV start-up Aereo will be decided by the country’s high court, which put a moment of truth for the future of TV on its schedule today. Broadcasters including ABC, CBS, Fox, and their media behemoth allies claim the company’s legal workaround violates copyright laws, while Aereo said in a statement, “We have every confidence that the Court will validate and preserve a consumer’s right to access local over-the-air television with an individual antenna, make a personal recording with a DVR, and watch that recording on a device of their choice.”
