Just in case you need more evidence that Chris Christie can be a petty jerk, the New York Post has you covered: “Sources” tell Page Six that he participated in a fantasy football league with a weird group of celebrities that included Jay Mohr, Kevin Connolly, Bobby Flay, actor Robert Wuhl (that’s the guy from Arli$$), and American Idol’s Constantine Maroulis, who now has a career on Broadway. According to the Post, Maroulis won, but Christie declined to pay him his $500 buy-in. (To be fair, it seems that the only famous member of the twelve-person pool to pony up was Connolly, who played the nice guy on Entourage, leaving Maroulis with only $2,000 of the $6,000 he was owed.) Of course, it’s entirely possible that Christie’s failure to give Maroulis his winnings was just an oversight, but a story about the embattled New Jersey governor stiffing a long-haired televised singing contest star out of several hundred dollars is too much like something that would happen on The Sopranos to ignore.
