The latest front in the Bay Area’s class war is in Atherton, the tony Peninsula suburb, where someone has taken to spray-painting some rather pointed opinions about the region’s top earners on the very walls of their homes. The phrase “Fuck the 1%” appeared “on perimeter walls, fences, garage doors, a gate and a car on at least nine properties” in the town, according to the Palo Alto Daily News. They also wrote “kill people.” Soon enough, the town with a $228,393 average income will have its very own protest camp.
