Following Russia’s annexation of Crimea, the Ukrainian government has moved to evacuate 25,000 troops to the mainland, the New York Times reports, a plan that “effectively amounted to a surrender of Crimea, at least from a military standpoint.” Above, a Ukrainian officer, bags packed, leaves naval headquarters as masked men with huge guns look on.
