Under Mayor de Blasio, Manhattan has to share its fireworks. After five years on the Hudson, the annual Macy’s July 4 celebration is moving back to the East River, where it can be seen by Brooklyn and Queens instead of New Jersey. “Now even more New Yorkers will get to take part in this extraordinary celebration, against the backdrop of the Brooklyn Bridge, the harbor and our skyline,” said the mayor, leaving out the part about using $100 bills pillaged from the Upper East Side as tinder.
