Once again, the busiest part of the Upper West Side has proven itself to be a dangerous place for pedestrians: The New York Daily News reports that a NYPD car carrying two uniformed officers struck a 69-year-old man as it drove north on Broadway near 78th street at around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. The victim was taken to St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in cardiac arrest, and is now in serious condition. The driver and passenger were uninjured. According to the Daily News, the cruiser had its sirens on, though it’s not clear if the cops were responding to an emergency call. A NYPD spokesperson declined to comment on the circumstances surrounding the accident.
