The Governor of California Is Wagering Rice Cakes on the Stanley Cup Final

This could be yours, Cuomo.

Sports bets involving politicians are almost always lame, but this one takes the (rice) cake. If the Rangers win the Stanley Cup Final, which begins tomorrow in Los Angeles, California Governor Jerry Brown will send Andrew Cuomo a book called California: A History and some lightly salted Lundberg organic brown rice cakes. If the Kings win, Cuomo will send a gift basket with products from various New York businesses as well as a “commemorative hockey puck from the 2013 ‘Hat Trick’ of three on-time budgets in a row.” Related story: Hockey pucks commemorating the 2013 state budget are things that exist.
