Last week, a 12-year-old Wisconsin girl was stabbed 19 times by her friends, 12-year-olds Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, who were hoping to please a creepy (and fictional) internet character named Slender Man. On Friday evening, the victim’s family announced that she had been released from the hospital, and offered some details about the still unnamed girl. “While we have kept discussions about the events of May 31, 2014 with her short, we did ask how she found the strength to crawl out of the woods. Her response was simple: ‘I wanted to live,’” they wrote, adding that their daughter is “looking forward to summer, but has voiced that she will miss attending classes even more.” Meanwhile, Geyser and Weier are still set to be tried as adults for attempted first-degree murder.
