Those visiting the Top of the Rock got a scare on Sunday evening when a camera burst into flames on the elevated portion of the observation deck, dropping embers on people standing on the lower deck. Six people suffered minor burns, including five adults who refused treatment and a child who was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital. By the time firefighters arrived at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, the fire had been extinguished. New York City Fire Department spokesman Khalid Baylor said the incident is “under investigation, but it’s not deemed suspicious.” So foul play has been ruled out, but feel free to worry about security cameras spontaneously catching fire.
