As part of Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl’s treatment at an outpatient facility in San Antonio, he’s slowly being exposed to everyday life in America. It’s been a month since Bergdahl was released after spending five years in Taliban captivity, and a military spokeswoman tells CNN that military health professionals have taken him to a library, a supermarket, several stores, and a variety of restaurants. Bergdahl has worn both civilian clothing and his military uniform during these excursions, and at times he’s been recognized by members of the public. The spokeswoman only mentioned that people have shaken his hand, so it’s unclear if he’s aware of the wide range of opinions Americans have about him.
