There’s just no peace in the skies over rebel-controlled areas in southeastern Ukraine. Government and pro-Russia rebel forces, who finally agree on something, both reported that rebels shot down two Ukrainian fighter jets today, just about an hour’s drive from where Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 was hit with a Buk missile last week. Several pilots were evidently able to parachute out, though it remains unclear whether they have survived. Kiev accused Russia of furnishing more weapons to insurgents, who have taken to blowing up bridges and other infrastructure. According to a spokesman for Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, Ukrainian forces have recovered weapons with Russian markings and documentation upon retaking several cities.
