Two men were shot and injured outside year-old Williamsburg record store and venue Rough Trade NYC last night, in an attack rapper Freddie Gibbs says was meant for him. “They tried to kill Tupac. They tried to kill me,” the pride of Gary, Indiana, told the New York Post. Why? “I’m Freddie Gibbs.”

The shots were fired just after 1 a.m., following Gibbs’s performance, as he sat in an SUV at North 9th Street near Wythe Avenue. The rapper ran back into the venue, while two members of his entourage were hit by a gunman who’d reportedly been stalking the crew all night. Both victims are in stable condition.

Gibbs, known for speaking his mind, promptly brushed off the attack on social media.

Yep. Still Livin. Thanks NYC.
