On the same day that 108 people linked to Mali’s first Ebola patient, a 2-year-old girl who died on October 24, were set to complete their 21-day quarantine, the government announced that a second person has died of the disease. The Malian nurse had treated a man who died last month after arriving from neighboring Guinea with Ebola-like symptoms. The Bamako clinic where the nurse worked is now in quarantine. Mali is the sixth West African nation to report cases of Ebola, which has killed nearly 5,000 people this year.
