Two window washers were successfully rescued by the FDNY this afternoon after becoming trapped inside a piece of scaffolding hanging perilously off the side of One World Trade Center 68 stories up. The fire department was able to cut a hole in the window of the building in order to rescue the workers. They were uninjured.
Numerous bystanders tweeted photos of the scaffolding, which came unhinged on the south side of the building around 12:45 p.m.
