Things Are So Bad in Congress, Lawmakers Need the Pope to Visit

Pope Francis is now adding the U.S. Capitol as a stop on his upcoming East Coast tour. Speaker of the House John Boehner announced Thursday that His Holiness will be dropping by September 24 to address a joint session of Congress, becoming the first pope ever to visit lawmakers there. Both Speaker Boehner and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi expressed their joy and gratitude for Pope Francis’s visit. If the specter of a papal audience can gin up some bipartisan accord, who knows what miracles await.
