A photo of the cleared-out finish line went viral after the snowstorm last week, and the shoveler was quickly identified as Chris Laudani. This is just the latest in a string of reasons — which include international incidents like the Charlie Hebdo bombings — that the defense has cited to prove that Tsarnaev’s trial should be delayed or moved to a more impartial jury pool. A judge has consistently blocked these attempts, and the ongoing jury selection is screening for people who are willing to impose the death penalty if Tsarnaev is convicted.
