As expected, the Justice Department has decided not to file federal civil-rights charges against Darren Wilson. The former police officer fatally shot 18-year-old Michael Brown, a moment that led to widespread protests concerning police brutality against African-American men. The Justice Department’s decision said, “There is no evidence upon which prosecutors can rely to disprove Wilson’s stated subjective belief that he feared for his safety.” The DOJ also released a report on a separate civil-rights investigation into the Ferguson Police Department on Wednesday.
