Though he was technically born in New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio was raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts, home to that “little college” your most pretentious friends constantly remind you they attended. As we were mocking Boston’s terrible winter, New York’s mayor has slowly but surely surrounded himself with fellow Massachusetts men, turning the upper echelons of NYC politics into a Boston bonanza. Sorry, Yankees fans.

The Times reports today that de Blasio has tapped Thomas G. Snyder, a longtime Boston politico and the Boston mayor’s former “right-hand man,” as his new chief of staff. Snyder joins Police Commissioner Bill Bratton and Deputy Mayor Richard Buery, who both formerly worked in government in Boston, and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs Emma Wolfe, a Massachusetts native and Red Sox fan. De Blasio’s first deputy mayor, Anthony Shorris, and Appointments Director Chloe Drew also both spent time in Massachusetts while attending Harvard. Highly suspicious.

This is starting to smell a whole lot like a Boston conspiracy. What’s next, moving the Red Sox to New York?
