Although many prominent Iranian leaders were quick to comment on the nuclear deal agreed upon last week, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stayed silent. The supreme leader finally talked about the deal on Thursday, saying that he’s reserving judgment until the details of the agreement are worked out. “I’m neither for nor against it. … The other side may want to stab us in the back over the details; it is too early for congratulations.” He added, after noting that he would not approve of a deal that did not end all sanctions immediately (Western diplomats want the sanctions to end gradually), “We always say that no deal is better than a bad deal.”
