Counting down the days until summer vacation? Join the club — U.S. airlines are predicting the busiest season ever as everyone rushes to get out of town — and take advantage of the improving economy. The trade group Airlines for America predicts that 222 million passengers will travel on U.S. airlines between June 1 and August 31, a 4.5 percent increase from last year, when around 210 million passengers used U.S. carriers. If you haven’t planned your vacation yet and are looking to avoid the most-crowded routes abroad, you may want to avoid Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan.
About 2.4 million people are expected to fly every day on U.S. airlines — which are unsurprisingly excited about this development, given that low fuel prices mean that their profits are going to go even higher.
