A 31-year-old woman who had just left yoga class was slashed with a machete while sitting in Bryant Park this morning. The attack left her with a large gash on her left arm — it was not life-threatening — and she was rushed to Bellevue Hospital. The suspect, a homeless man believed to be named Frederick Young, was apprehended by nearby police officers. He has 23 prior arrests, including one for menacing with a machete from five years ago. One witness told the New York Post, “It was definitely a real machete and it was really sharp, he also had a screwdriver, which I thought was kind of weird.”
