Here’s How the Democrats Aim to Turn a Trump Nomination Into Senate Control

I want you to be afraid of Donald Trump.

Have you ever noticed how Donald Trump has a penchant for saying wildly offensive things? The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee certainly has. And although an ever-growing plurality of Republicans don’t seem to mind Trump’s reflections on Megyn Kelly’s menstrual cycle, mass executions, or Muslim bans, the rest of America does. According to a Gallup poll from January, 60 percent of Americans disapprove of the Donald. Thus, Democrats have been salivating at the prospect of making down-ballot races into referendums on Trump since last July. On Monday, John McCain’s Democratic challenger in Arizona, Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick, gave us a preview of the anti-Trump onslaught that awaits GOP candidates everywhere, should the mogul become the party’s standard-bearer.
