Donald Trump has been loudly weighing the possibility of choosing a military man as his running mate. Hillary Clinton has been quietly doing the same, the New York Times reported Tuesday.
James G. Stavridis is a retired four-star Navy admiral, former supreme allied commander of NATO, and current dean of the Fletcher School at Tufts University. He is also, reportedly, on Clinton’s short list for vice-president.

NYTNonetheless, Clinton’s potential military running mate is a more plausible vice-president than Trump’s: The Donald’s favored general, Michael Flynn, is a lifelong, pro-choice Democrat who co-authored a book with one of America’s foremost defenders of Italian fascism. By contrast, the main dirt on Stavridis is that he was once investigated for commandeering a military aircraft to fly his wife to a fancy wine party in Burgundy, France.
