Hosting the Olympics is crazy expensive. And every two years, one lucky country gets to shoulder the cost. Rio has already spent $4.6 billion on this year’s Games, a price tag that could rise to more than $25 billion once the events are over. It’s unclear exactly what will happen to Rio’s 17 new venues when the Games end. But looking at how other countries have retrofitted their venues might give us some insight.
