An NFL Executive Thinks Football Will Thrive Under Trump Because America Will Be ‘More Raw and Brutal’

In the mid-’80s Donald Trump played a major role in driving a football league into the ground. Now he’s got a chance to save one, at least if you buy the theory of one anonymous NFL executive. Speaking to Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman, the unnamed suit put forth his thoughts on why Trump’s America will buoy the league, which is mired in a hell of a slump.

Under President [Barack] Obama, the country was intellectual and looked at facts. I think that’s why our ratings fell. People read a lot about our scandals or CTE and didn’t like what they saw. Under Trump, the country will care less about truth or facts. It’ll be [more raw] and brutal. Football will be more of an outlet. We’ll go back to liking our violent sports.

It’s not a bad theory, especially as the future foretold in Idiocracy begins to become a reality. But there’s one big problem with it. If this guy’s prediction comes true, MMA will become America’s national pastime, not the sport that Trump himself called “soft.”
