The Chicago Cubs won the World Series last night for the first time in more than a century. As somebody with no loyalties to Chicago and whose entire knowledge of baseball is limited to what I picked up from A League of Their Own and Damn Yankees, watching the Cubs win wasn’t that thrilling for me. But you know who is thrilled? All these adorable grandmothers and grandfathers who have waited their whole lives to see their team win the World Series. (And have their younger relatives film it and post their reactions on the World Wide Web.) Watching their joyful reactions is almost enough to make me want to start watching baseball.
I know there is no crying in baseball … but come on.
