Elon Musk Deletes Facebook Pages for SpaceX and Tesla

Sensing a PR opportunity, Elon Musk deleted the pages for his companies SpaceX and Tesla this week. The ploy comes amid a growing backlash to Facebook and how it harvests and shares user data. Musk was goaded into removing the pages after responding to WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton, who called on users to delete their Facebook accounts (Acton is, presumably, still a billionaire after selling his messaging app to Facebook).

At the start of this week, the SpaceX page had 2.2 million likes. The Tesla page, according to Google’s cache, had upwards of 2.6 million. Now where will Facebook users find out about cars they can’t afford and spaceships they’ll never be able to ride in?
