While the Yankees and the Mets battle for their respective league pennants, the Museum of the City of New York looks back at an era when a Subway Series was pretty much a givenï¿½those years from 1947 (Jackie Robinson breaks the color barrier) to 1957 (the Dodgers and Giants headed west) when seven World Series pitted the Yanks against either the Giants or the Dodgers. (Only once during that time was the Series played without a local representative.) Items on display include the Dodgers' 1955 championship banner, a baseball used in Don Larsen's perfect game circa 1956, and jerseys worn by greats like Mickey Mantle and Duke Snider. Archival photographs and film footage complement the memorabilia. — Joe DeLessio
