Profile
For monumental sculpture with a twist, Luhring Augustine is the place to go. Janine Antoni (her earlier works were sculpted in chocolate and lard using her teeth) and Christopher Wool (who has been with the gallery since 1987, showing painting, photography, and sculpture) can both be found here. It’s also great for video: Charles Atlas showed his The Waning of Justice exhibition here in 2015. Award-winning Canadians Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller reinstalled their "Paradise Institute" here, a miniature theater inside the gallery with special headsets that played sonic tricks on visitors. And Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist once furnished the entire galleryelaborate carpets, sofas, kitchen table, bar, and allhiding tiny video pieces throughout.
