Profile
If you’ve ever wanted a craft beer, juicy burger, or speakeasy-inspired cocktail while watching the latest film to hit theaters, Nitehawk Cinema has your fix. Five blocks from the Bedford stop on the L sits this unique Williamsburg movie theaterpart art-house cinema, part restaurant, and part bar, with new cocktails and dishes inspired by the rotating films. Its three theaters are all quite intimate and hold 30 to 90 seatsall paired off two to a table, and thus ideal for a date. Theatergoers here can order off a menu that offers salads, entrées (like burgers, sandwiches, and meatloaf), and desserts, then enjoy their food and drinks while watching the movie. Don’t feel like a full-course meal? The theater’s concessions offer more than just popcorn, with homemade jerky, chocolates, and hummus shaming the usual Milk Duds or nachos. Nitehawk lures movie buffs with a film selection that ranges from first-run indie titles to midnight cult classics, and while chewing mouths and whispered conversations don’t make it an ideal spot to closely watch Truffaut or Bergman, it offers the movie equivalent of Brooklyn Bowlfood, booze, and an atmosphere worth experiencing.
