Profile
Past the student banners and brick-and-glass façade of the Borough of Manhattan Community College, the Tribeca Performing Arts Center's three performance spaces are linked by a series of earth-toned corridors. The main theater, a smart, light-wood-paneled, 913-seat space with proscenium stage, has been a regular outpost for the Tribeca Film Festival. The theaters also host contemporary dance companies from around the world, intimate cabaret acts, and quirkier offerings like the Miss Albania contest and Society of American Magicians parties. Open since 1978, the venue's long-running Lost Jazz Shrines series celebrates late, great nightclubs like The Five Spot and Café Bohemia.
