Profile
Israeli-born hairstylist Koby Ben Yaacov opened Alibi NYC in 2010. The 2,200-square-foot loft is in the heart of Soho and operates as a collective, wherein hairstylists, chosen by Yaacov, rent one of the salon’s twenty stations and work independently while also being part of a like-minded, friendly, and ambitious team. The spacious salon features bold wallpaper, shiny leather furniture, and sparkling crystal chandeliers. The modern décor is contrasted by exposed brick walls and hardwood floors that give the salon a French Baroquemeets-artsy-studio vibe. Alibi’s staff pampers clients with relaxing head and shoulder massages at the beginning of the appointment and therapeutic hand massages during the cut or color, complete with soothing hot towels and fragrant lotion. Product selection differs for each stylist, but the nourishing MoroccanOil line is a favorite of many. Clients come for styles ranging from traditional cuts and colors to bright hues and asymmetrical layers, each carefully crafted with an artistic touch.
