Profile
Owned by a former preschool teacher and nanny, this colorful kids' salon is dedicated to providing children with an easygoing trim. There are just four chairsone adult-size, one kiddie-size, one car, and one boatso the atmosphere is clearly geared to the underage, with typically only one or two stylists working at a time. As a bridge between beauty and boredom, children select a video to watch during their cut, then go home with a free lollipop and bubbles. First haircuts include a commemorative certificate and a saved lock of hair while a dedicated assistant will use all kinds of toys and games to make the whole experience as trauma-free as possible. Updos, bang trims, and manicures are also available, and all of the stylists have experience in adult salons, so parents are invited to schedule their own appointment either during or separately from their child’s.
Star SightingsDon’t be surprised if you see a familiar face or two here: Doodle Doo’s is a favorite among neighborhood celeb parents like Liv Tyler, Julianne Moore, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Eli Tahari.
