Profile
Laura Geller, who’s painted high-profile faces since the eightiesthink Jodie Foster, Brooke Shields, and Tom Cruisehas parlayed her Hollywood experience into a nascent cosmetics empire, anchored by a booming QVC business and her namesake studio. The front of the shop functions as a product showcase, with teen makeup in bubblegum colors and ultrashiny glosses, plus plenty of goods to appeal to an older, multitasking crowd; matte, brightly pigmented lipsticks, a wide range of eye shadows and full-coverage foundations top the oversize black and white half-moon counter, with endless makeup kits and solution-oriented items like brightening and color-correcting powders and bronzers. Geller’s products promise photogenic staying power; her Spackle acts as a no-slip primer for filling facial lines with nontoxic silicone and natural botanicals. For a price, the staff will also come to you for on-site services.
ExtraMakeup guru Geller’s not always in the store so you’ll need to book appointments with her well in advance.
Bridal Makeup
In her sleek Upper East Side studio, Geller matches brides-to-be with her team of veteran makeup artists based on personality compatibility; an in-house wedding coordinator arranges appointments. Trials are $125; day-of application is $300. Brides can arrange for an artist to be on hand for touch-ups ($150 an hour).
