Profile
Tucked into Club H, a deluxe Murray Hill gym whose members get a 10 percent discount, Spa H consists of just five treatment rooms: two for facials and three for bodywork. The rooms are handsome and circular, with exotic-wood walls, soothing recessed lighting, and plush faux-fur coverlets on the treatment tables, which are mechanized to provide neck, lumbar, and knee support. On the skin-care front, a staff of mainly European-trained aestheticians examine a client’s complexion before recommending the appropriate facial, from problem-targeting treatments (wrinkle-reducing, deep pore cleansing, oxygenating) to pampering ones (green-tea peels and exfoliating rosehip blends). All facials are customized to individual skin issues and while quite lulling, also work to decongest skin, jump-start circulation, and promote collagen renewal. Each facial phase also flaunts its own intoxicating aromayour steam-misting might be redolent with Thai lemongrass, your mask with cardamom, your hand cream with grapefruit or rosethanks to the use of botanical balms from Sonya Dakar and Eminence, cultish lines from Beverly Hills and Hungary, respectively. Swedish, deep-tissue, and hot-stone massages are also offered, along with specialty prenatal, scalp, and foot reflexology treatments. Waxing and men’s treatments round out the menu.
