The Spa at Equinox

Most gyms in the city have some kind of spa component, but Equinox isn’t like most gyms: Just as it raised the bar for what it meant to be a high-end Manhattan sports club, the chain has taken its in-gym spas to new levels of luxury. All Equinox locations have at least three on-site treatment rooms and offer a selection of massage modalities, while the gyms at 76th, 85th, Prince Streets and in the West Village have larger facilities with on-staff estheticians for facial and body treatments. The highest of Equinox Spa highs, however, is at the 63rd Street location's eleven-room operation. There, clients will find a manicure/pedicure station (possibly the only salon in the city overlooking an indoor pool), and the same full complement of services they’d discover at the most comprehensive of day spas. There’s Reiki, mirodermabrasion, non-invasive tanning, unique massage (pre and post-natal, lymphatic) and body treatments and, not least of all, the Ionithermie Body Melt, which promises to help reduce the appearance of cellulite on both men and women by firming, toning and detoxifying. Equinox Spas are open to members and non-members alike, with members receiving a 10% discount on treatments and non-members receiving access to the entire gym�including classes�with the cost of any service. — Andrew Sessa
