Fans of the Warren-Tricomi salon style have quietly patronized the beauty barons’ second Manhattan outpost, tucked inside the Sports Club LA fitness center at The Rock, since its 2000 debut. Master stylist Patrick Melville oversees the serene sister salon and spa, where Rockefeller Center employees and other nine-to-fivers bypass the high-profile scene of the flagship 57th Street location, while still enjoying the same signature haircuts, updos, and colorings the brand is known for. (Founders Joel Warren and Edward Tricomi only work at the 57th Street salon.) Most of the employees are Fifth Avenue salon veterans who say the calm atmosphere helps keep the focus on client satisfaction rather than besting a coworker’s creation. The low-key vibe also means the 4,000-square-foot, full-service salon has little room for celebrity egos, so sightings here (unlike at the other location) are limited. Instead, there’s just enough space to house cut and color areas, a mani-pedi section complete with Japanese basins, a waxing room, and a cosmetics station for meticulous eyebrow shapings and makeup applications. The tiny spa is almost hidden in the sports club’s second-floor locker room. There, six small but inviting treatment suites are available for facials, skin treatments, and massages. Clients booking spa services can enjoy the upscale gym’s shower, steam, and sauna facilities for free.
