Profile
The 21-story Omni Berkshire Place is a traditional luxury hotel owned and managed by the nationwide corporation, Omni Hotels. Suited bellhops greet guests at the door and welcome them into a comfortable atrium lounge dubbed "the living room." The 396 guest rooms are decorated tastefully with either king-size or two double beds and stately armoires that hold irons, extra pillows, and TVs with Web access. Mini-bar areas, stuffed with goodies like Dean & DeLuca chocolate bars and Terra chips, are also equipped with fax machines and safes. The posh suites boast seriously spacious living rooms with grand drapery and plasma TVs, as well as double granite bathrooms with deep tubs and glass showers. Demure maidsthat carry supplies in hand-held containers instead of bulky push-cartskeep rooms polished and pristine, while 24-hour room service is provided by the in-house American-fare restaurant Fireside . As if all of this wasn’t enough to keep you happy, there's also a 17th-floor sundeck and fitness center that looks over the Midtown skyline. Though not a full-fledged convention hotel, the Berkshire does have extensive meeting space for corporate groups, as well as a full-service business center. But don't hesitate to bring your laptopthe entire building has wireless Internet access.
Pros
Traditional, elegant, and classy; recently renovated with new amenities and wireless Internet through out.
Cons
There are no surprises hereneither historic nor innovative, the upscale accommodations lack imaginative, creative design.
Weddings
This luxury hotel offers three venuesthe Juilliard Ballroom, the Carnegie
Salon, and the Atriumthat can accommodate 70 to 120 guests. The
wedding-reception menu features an array of Italian and New American standards.
From $120 per person.
