Unlike the seemingly endless array of shops that sell cute-and-pointless miscellany for the home and body, Park Slope’s 3r Living is a lifestyle store that really does improve your life and the world at large. That’s because the store sells future friendly products made in a way that values the three R’s: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. But banish the thought of wine bottles disguised as vases or milk cartons turned into bird feeders3r has clearly been stocked by people who have an eye for style. The brainchild of husband-and-wife Park Slope residents Samantha Delman-Caserta and Mark Caserta (he’s an environmental lobbyist and she’s a former retail buyer), the store smartly carries products that live up to the core mission. Many of the products are imported under fair trade practices and are also green. The store has a devoted neighborhood followinglocals love the bamboo cutting boards and accessories, the recycled boat-wood frames, and Mrs. Meyer's cleaning solutions. Another hit is the Grow-a-Note cards, made from recycled paper pulp that’s been dotted with flower seeds, and which can be planted both indoors and out.
Recycling HubThe in-store recycling center is a neighborhood favorite, with separate bins for old batteries, crayons, laser-printer cartridges, CDs, and cell phones.
